New Haven Nightclub Murder Suspect Arraigned

The man suspected in the Oct. 26 murder of Erica Robinson at the Key Club Cabaret is being held on $3 million bond and there was a commotion outside the courthouse after his appearance today.

New Haven police have arrested Adrian Bennett, 28, yesterday at a Hartford home.

Today, the man known as "Bread," was arraigned today.

A press conference was held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the New Haven police headquarters to discuss the investigation and arrest.

Court records show that Bennett has previous drug and weapons convictions. The warrant for his arrest was issued at the end of October.

Bennett is accused of shooting and killing Robinson, of West Haven, inside the New Haven nightclub on Saint John Street. Police believe Robinson was an innocent bystander and was not the target.

Bennett's attorney said that besides surveillance video, she has not seen any evidence that implicates her client.

Five other people were wounded in the shooting, according to police.

Bennett has been charged with murder, five counts of first-degree assault and criminal possession of a firearm. His bail has been set at $3 million.
