One person is dead and another injured after an early morning shooting in a New Haven neighborhood.
Police responded to Clay Street around midnight Saturday morning after receiving reports of a shooting. When officers arrived to the scene they found 20-year-old Demetrius Wilkes of the city and another man suffering gunshot wounds.
Wilkes was transported to an area hospital for wounds to his leg and torso and is listed in stable condition.
The second shooting victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Police have not released the victim’s name pending family notification.
