New Haven Police Chase Wanted Man Into North Haven

New Haven police are searching for a wanted man who officers pursed into North Haven on Wednesday afternoon.

Police said a detective on patrol in New Haven spotted the suspect and tried to stop him, prompting a car chase over the city line into North Haven.

The suspect stopped and got out of the car in the area of Universal Drive, where he took off and ran into toward a nearby railroad yard, where the man got away.

North Haven officers and a K-9 helped with the search, but police called it off because of extreme heat, according to New haven police spokesman Officer David Hartman.

Police said the officers had an arrest warrant for the man they were chasing. It's not clear what he will be charged with but police said the suspect isn't "going around shooting people."
