New Haven Chief Under Fire

The New Haven police union will consider a no confidence vote Wednesday against Chief Frank Limon and his two assistants.
Union President Sgt. Louis Cavaliere said Tuesday that morale is at an all-time low, the New Haven Independent reported.

The union says it has received a flood of requests for a no confidence vote. “The three chiefs do not belong in this police department,” Cavaliere told the paper. “The ‘Chicago 3’ will be on trial so to speak to see if the rank and file want them. This will send a message to the person who hired them, Mayor John DeStefano.”

DeStefano has not commented on the matter. Chief Limon has been on the job for less than a year. The union first considered holding a no-confidence vote against him last September. But that was put on hold after  the chief agreed to meet with the union to try and iron some issues out, the New Haven Independent reported. He vowed to work hard to improve communication and address grievances the department had about new work rules.

However, Cavaliere tells the paper that "relations between the chiefs and the union have only worsened since then."
