New London Police Arrest Robbery Suspect

Police have arrested the man who they say walked into a New London convenience store, threatened the clerk and stole a pack of cigarettes on Saturday.

According to police, 46-year-old Darren McNair allegedly went to the Ravi Petro Market at 268 Bank Street just before 1 p.m. Saturday. He didn't display a weapon but told the clerk he would get hurt if he didn't hand over a pack of cigarettes. The clerk gave McNair the cigarettes and McNair fled down Bank Street, police said.

Police in the area found McNair on Bank Street and took him into custody.

McNair was charged with third-degree robbery and sixth-degree larceny. He's being held on a $2,500 bond.

McNair was also arrested in July and faces breach of peace and failure to appear charges.
