A 21-year-old Newington man is facing charges after rough handling his 4-week-old daughter and causing bruises on two occasions, according to police.
Tyler Francis Maia, 21, was arrested Friday on two counts of risk of injury to a minor and two counts of third-degree assault. Police began investigating after his infant daughter arrived at the hospital with bruising, authorities said.
Investigators learned that Maia had grown frustrated with the baby and "handled her forcefully" twice over the past week, according to police.
He was held on $75,000 bond and is due in court Feb. 23.
