Newlywed Pleads Not Guilty in Wife's Death

Chihan Eric Chyung is being held on $1 million

A 46-year-old Norwich man has pleaded not guilty to shooting and killing his wife of two months in their home earlier this month.

On the night of June 2, Norwich police received several 911 calls reporting a gunshot at the Norwich Avenue home.

They responded about 11 p.m. and found the body of Paige Bennett Chyung, 46, inside the home she and her husband shared. She was dead from a gunshot to the head, according to the autopsy.

When police arrived that night, her husband, Chihan Eric Chyung, was still at the scene. He was later charged with first-degree manslaughter with a firearm.

Chyung remains is custody on $1 million bond and is scheduled to appear July 2 in New London Superior Court.

All documents have been sealed from the public.
