Newtown Teachers Meet With Union Leaders

Teachers and other school employees in Newtown meting with local and national union leaders to discuss issues stemming from the 2012 shooting massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

American Federation of Teachers President Randi Weingarten is expected to meet privately with educators on Tuesday in Newtown.

At a news conference this afternoon, Weingarten and local union leaders were expected to discuss their impressions of the progress Newtown teachers are making in their recovery and other issues including access to mental health services and school security.

A gunman killed 20 children and six educators at Sandy Hook on Dec. 14, 2012. He also killed his mother before driving to the school where he killed himself as police arrived.
