Nightclub Loses Liquor License

After 3 men are stabbed, a New Haven nightclub loses its liquor license.

Club goers in New Haven will have to find another spot for shots and cocktails this weekend.

The State has yanked the liquor permit of Synergy Nightclub at 201 Crown Street. In essence, that closes the bar until further notice.

The move comes in the wake of a deadly weekend stabbing.  Bambaata Carr, 21of Hamden was stabbed as many as 11 times at the club Saturday morning.  Two others were serious hurt in the incident.

“This kind of violence should not be happening anywhere, let alone in a location that holds a liquor license, where the permittee has a special obligation under the law to insure the safety of the public,” said Jerry Farrell, Jr., Consumer Protection Commissioner.

The Department of Consumer Protection says a shell casing was found on the basement floor near victim, suggesting that a weapon had been in the nightclub.
