North Branford Police Sergeant Charged With Possession of Child Pornography

A North Branford police sergeant has been charged with possession of child pornography in Hamden.

Hamden police arrested 58-year-old Anthony DeLuise, of Hamden, on Monday and he has been charged with possession of child pornography.

DeLuise is a sergeant in the patrol division of the North Branford, according to North Branford police. They said he has been absent from his position since Feb. 14, 2018 and has not been on the active roster since.

According to Hamden police, the Computer Crimes Unit launched an investigation in January 2018 into child pornography, which led them to search DeLuise’s home on Sebec Street and officers seized multiple devices, including electronics.

A search of those items turned up more than 1,400 images and movie files of suspected child pornography, according to Hamden police.

“The charges against Mr. DeLuise are disturbing and troublesome, however, they are the actions of a single person and do not reflect the behavior of the dedicated men and women of the NBPD,” a statement from North Branford police says.

North Branford police said an internal affairs investigation has begun.

DeLuise was released on a $25,000 bond and is due in court on Jan. 8.
