North Haven Firefighters Knock Down Blaze at Rail Yard

North Haven firefighters knocked down a fire at a rail yard Saturday morning.

According to North Haven Fire Chief Paul Januszewski, firefighters responded to the CSX Cedar Hill Yard at 100 Universal Drive around 3 a.m. When they arrived they found a rail car full of construction debris on fire. Januszewski said about a third of the car was engulfed in flames and other cars were at risk of exposure.

Firefighters quickly knocked down the fire. No injuries were reported and the car did not contain anything hazardous.

Firefighters cleared the scene around 4:30 a.m.
