Security Guard at Millstone Power Plant Charged With Wife's Murder in Norwich

A 56-year-old security guard at the Millstone Power Station has been charged with the murder of his wife and is being held on $1 million bond, according to statements made in court Tuesday.

James F. Hodgdon is accused of shooting and killing his wife, Dianna Hodgdon, 58, at the couple's home at 6 Forestview Drive in Norwich on Labor Day.

Authorities were called to the couple's home around 8 p.m. Monday to investigate what was reported as an accidental shooting. They found Dianna Hodgdon with a gunshot wound to the chest, according to police.

She was pronounced dead soon after police and emergency personnel arrived.

James Hodgdon was charged with her murder. He works as a security guard at the Millstone nuclear power plant in Waterford, according to statements made in court.

James Hodgdon faced a judge Tuesday and is due back in court on Sept. 28.

Norwich police officers and detectives are investigating the case alongside members of the Connecticut State Police Major Crime Squad, the New London County State's Attorney's Office and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
