Nursing Assistant Gets 15 Years in Prison for Sexually Assaulting Patients

A former nursing assistant will serve prison time for sexually assaulting patients at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport.

Gonzalo Flores received a 20-year sentence, to be suspended after he spends 15 years behind bars. He will also serve 10 years of probation and must register as a sex offender, according to the office of the court clerk.

Police began investigating after a patient complained that Flores had touched him inappropriately. Flores was terminated from the hospital in June 2014 and was arrested in July of last year.

The patient told police he was asleep and woke up to find Flores touching his genitals. According to the Connecticut Post, Flores apologized in court Friday and pleaded guilty to assaulting five men who were patients at the hospital.

A former patient at St. Vincent's is suing the hospital for $25 million, claiming he was among dozens of people sexually assaulted by Flores.
