Old Saybrook Has Best Dressed Police

If you’ve ever looked at an Old Saybrook police officer and thought, wow, that’s a nice looking uniform, you’re not alone.

Law and Order magazine and the North American Association of Uniform Manufacturers and Distributors think so too. They picked Old Saybrook as the Best Dressed Police Department with fewer than 50 members.

The winners of the best uniform honors were revealed during a special presentation in Las Vegas.

The award is not just about uniforms that look good. It’s also about the way the uniforms are constructed to help officers do their jobs and do them safely.

“As uniforms are an integral component of any public safety program, the awards emphasize the importance of professional, neat, well fitted, and immediately identifiable uniforms in police, fire and other first-responder public safety programs,” according to a news release from NAUMD.

“Its design, composition, durability and overall comfort all affect how well the individuals who protect us are able to remain safe while executing their sometimes dangerous responsibilities,” Richard Lerman, president and CEO of the NAUMD, said.

It’s was also a good day for representatives of Red the Uniform Tailor They supply the department’s uniforms.
