A man died in a one-car crash on Interstate 84 East in West Hartford early Tuesday morning, according to State Police.
The driver lost control around 3:40 a.m. between the exit 41 onramp and the Mayflower Street overpass, went into the median, hit the guardrail and flipped over, according to state police.
The man was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the car.
Police said he was breathing and alert when medics arrived and transported him to St. Francis Hospital, but died at the hospital.
The area was closed for several hours and reopened around 6:40 a.m.
State Police have not released the man's name, age or any other identifying information and are notifying his family.
Police are investigating the circumstances of the crash.
