One Man Killed In Bridgeport Fire

Bridgeport fire investigators are looking into what started a fire at an apartment building Saturday that left one man dead.

The victim's name has not been released.

Bridgeport firefighters were called to 596 Fairfield Avenue around 2 p.m. Saturday. Witnesses reportedly told authorities they heard an explosion before the flames broke out, but Bridgeport Fire Captain Ed McCann told NBC Connecticut he does not believe an explosion started the fire.

The American Red Cross is now assisting 30 displaced people who lived in the apartment building.
