One Motorcyclist Killed, Another Injured

One motorcyclist was killed and another was transported to a hospital by Lifestar helicopter after an early morning crash in Columbia on Friday morning.

One motorcyclist hit a steel mail post and then a parked car, according to state police. The second motorcyclist lost control but no more details were provided.

Wayne Henri Jr., 31, of Canterbury, was pronounced dead at the scene and Robert Miller, 34, of Canterbury, was flown by helicopter via Life star.

The crashes happened on Route 66 in Columbia just after 12:30 a.m. on Friday near Schoolhouse Road.

The names of the victims and the condition of the survivor haven't been released.

State police closed Route 66 at the intersection of Route 87 while troopers investigated. The cause isn't clear yet.

The highway has been reopened.
