Orange Police have arrested a man accused of setting fire to his home.

Thomas McMahon, 65, of Orange, is accused of setting fire to his home at 496 Golf Road in Orange on Oct. 27, while it was occupied, according to a post on the police department's Facebook page.

Police said it appeared the fire was set from inside the home and caused an estimated $100,000 in damage.

No one was injured during the fire and the Orange Volunteer Fire Department, Milford Fire Department, Orange fire marshals, Orange Police and Connecticut State Police Fire and Explosion Unit responded and extinguished the fire.

On Saturday, McMahon turned himself in to police on an arrest warrant and was charged with first-degree arson 1st degree, which is a felony, and providing a false written statement.

He was released after posting a $50,000 bond and is due in Derby Superior Court on Jan. 5.
