Closing Time Brings Overtime Disappointment

When the UConn game started Thursday night, the bars across the state were packed to watch this Big East battle against Syracuse. By the end, disappointed fans also found themselves in shock and in the cold. The long, long game ended past closing time.

The game was 14 minutes shy of four hours. Tip off was at 9:36 p.m. and the game ended at 1:22 a.m.

"I'm basically, I'm speechless. What can I say? I mean, I'm sure everybody out here feels what I'm saying. It's disappointing," Carlos Almodovar said.

He was not only speechless. The hour meant he had to leave the bar where he was watching the game before the final buzzer.

Because of the late hour, Coach's sports bar in Hartford had to close its doors with just minutes left in the final overtime because they were well past closing time.

“I was there almost to the end of six overtimes, but I can't say I was there to the end," he said.
