Parents of Sandy Hook Victims to Address Advisory Commission

A panel created to develop policy recommendations in the wake of the 2012 shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School is expected to hear Friday from the parents of two children who were killed.

The parents making presentations to the Sandy Hook Advisory Commission are Neil Heslin, the father of Jesse Lewis, and Nelba Marquez-Greene, the mother of Ana Marquez-Greene.

A total of 20 children and six educators were killed in the December 2012 massacre. The gunman also killed his mother inside their Newtown home and committed suicide after the rampage.

Gov. Dannel P. Malloy created the 16-member advisory commission to make recommendations in areas including public safety, mental health and gun violence prevention.
