Patient Charged With Setting Fire at Bloomfield Nursing Home

Police have charged a patient with setting a fire in a nursing home in Bloomfield.

The fire damaged part of the building at the Touchpoints Healthcare facility at 140 Park Avenue on Saturday. Five patients were sent to the hospital to be checked out and several more were evacuated.

As police were investigating, they found Rodrick Peters, 73, in a nearby marshy area. Peters admitted to setting the fire because he no longer wanted to stay at the facility. Officers took Peters to the hospital for an evaluation.

They have charged Peters with first-degree arson and third-degree assault.
