Teens to Pay for Attending Wild Party

A teen has to pay for damage, even though he did not cause the damage.

A Connecticut teen has gotten a harsh lesson about the consequences of attending underage drinking parties.

The state Supreme Court has decided that the teen must pay for damage at an unauthorized party at a vacant home in Fairfield in 2007, despite the fact that he didn't personally cause any of the destruction.

The teen was one of 22 people who were charged and ordered to pay for the damage at the home, which totaled $36,000.

The teen's share came to $2,000.

The high court ruled that ordering the teen to pay the restitution is legal because it forces him to take responsibility for being at the home without permission.

The home was unoccupied at the time of the party because it was up for sale.

The teen's name was not released because he was deemed a youthful offender.
