Pedestrian Hit By Car in Meriden Hospitalized

A man is hospitalized after he was hit by a car in Meriden Monday night. 

Meriden Police said a 29-year-old man who was driving a Dodge Stratus down Hanover Avenue veered across the road and hit a 21-year-old pedestrian who was walking in the shoulder at 11:36 p.m. and struck a pole. 

The pedestrian was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition. 

The driver was also taken to the hospital. Police said his injuries are not life-threatening. 

There was extensive damage to the pole and power had to be shut off for an hour so repairs could be made, police said.
