Pedestrian Killed, Motorcyclist in Critical Condition After Crash in New Haven

A pedestrian has died and a motorcyclist is in critical condition after a crash in New Haven on Thursday night.

Officers were called to the intersection of Ferry and Lombard streets in the Fair Haven neighborhood around 7:15 p.m. after getting a report of a pedestrian struck by a motorcycle.

According to police, two motorcyclists were riding on Ferry Street as a man was trying to cross the road near Lombard Street when one motorcyclist hit the pedestrian.

Both the pedestrian and the motorcyclist suffered life-threatening injuries and were transported to the hospital, police said.

The pedestrian, a 48-year-old Hamden man, was later pronounced dead, authorities added. His name has not been released. The motorcyclist, a 30-year-old New Haven man, is listed in critical condition.

The New Haven Police Department Accident Reconstruction Unit responded to the scene. The intersection was closed, but has reopened.
