Pedestrian Struck by Train Dies

A pedestrian has been struck by a train on tracks along Route 140 in Windsor Locks.

A pedestrian has died after being struck by a train on tracks along Route 140 in Windsor Locks.

Amtrak officials said the train was the 495 heading south from Springfield to New Haven. Some train service was disrupted, but had been restored as of 10:45 a.m.

The person was struck just north of Bridge Street at 7:28 a.m.

Nineteen passengers were on board when the crash happened. None were injured.

It is not known whether the pedestrian is a man or woman. 

There was also a fatal train crash in this area in July 2011.

David Balazs, a 44-year-old bicyclist from Windsor Locks, died on July 16, 2011 when he was struck by a train.
