Pets were killed in a house fire that displaced two adults and two children in West Haven on Thursday night and a firefighter suffered a knee injury.
The fire started on the first floor of a home on Smith Court and was reported around 10 p.m. on Thursday, officials said.
The family members made it out safely, but there is significant damage to the inside of the home.
The Red Cross is providing help with emergency food and clothing needs.
Officials are investigating to determine the cause.
