Pit Bulls Attack, Kill Chihuahua: Cops

The dogs followed the Chihuahua into the house and continued to attack, police said.

A pet Chihuahua is dead after being attacked by a pit bull at a Farmington house.

A resident of Oakland Avenue in Farmington heard her dog yelping just before 1 p.m. on Tuesday, looked outside and saw that two pit bulls had cornered her dog on her front step, police said.

The dog owner tried to rescue her pet by bringing it inside, but the pit bulls, Bruno and Sasha, followed her into the house, police said, and Bruno attacked the little dog.

The Chihuahua died from its injuries.

Shakeem Anderson, of Oakland Avenue, owns the pit bulls and will be charged with allowing a dog to roam, having unlicensed dogs and having nuisance dogs, Farmington police said.

Bruno has been euthanized. Sasha is being evaluated to determine whether Anderson can have the dog back.
