Pizza Delivery Driver Fakes Armed Robbery: Police

A pizza delivery driver who claimed to have been robbed at gunpoint in New London last month fabricated the whole thing, according to police.

Police said Travis Pullen, 29, of Niantic, told authorities a man put a gun to the back of his head whiile he was delivering a pizza at 159 Hawthorne Drive in New London on Jan. 10. Pullen said the thief took his wallet and ran off.

New London police said Thursday that the robbery never happened.

Pullen was arrested Wednesday afternoon and charged with second-degree falsely reporting an incident, as well as sixth-degree larceny in connection with a separate incident reported by his former employer, according to police.

He waas released after posting $10,000 bond.
