Police Arrest 3rd Suspect in Shelton Assault

The victim will need plastic surgery after severe head and face injuries, police said.

Shelton police have arrested a 25-year-old Shelton man accused in a the brutal beating a 32-year-old man on St. Patrick’s Day.

The victim was beaten so badly he will need plastic surgery, police said, and they have charged three people in the assault.

Police said Jason Terry had been hiding from police since the arrest warrant was issued and served a warrant on Thursday.

Police have also charged Andrew O'Connell, 18, of Orange, and Daniel Zeleznik, 23, of Shelton.

Shortly after midnight on St. Patrick’s Day, passersby found a man at Coram Avenue and Kneen Street. He was unconscious and bleeding heavily from the face and head, police said.

The victim was brought to Bridgeport Hospital, where he remained in critical condition for two days.

Police said the victim suffered severe head and facial injuries and will require plastic surgery to correct.

After several interviews, police arrested Zeleznik on March 24, at his house on a warrant. They arrested O'Connell two days later.

Police charged Terry with with first-degree assault and first-degree conspiracy to commit assault. He is being held on a $250,000 court-set bond at the Shelton police lock-up.

He is expected to be arraigned at the Derby Superior Court on Monday.

Police are still investigating but do not expect to make additional arrests.
