Man Slammed Woman's Face Into the Ground: Cops

Police have arrested a man accused of slamming a 65-year-old woman’s face into the sidewalk because she refused to given him her purse.

Police said the woman was assaulted in the 1700 block of Park Street at 11:57 p.m. on Saturday.

A witness told police that a man approached the victim and demanded her purse. She refused and the man punched her face several times and slammed her face down onto the concrete sidewalk.

She founght back,the Hartford Courant reports, hitting his head and face with her keys.  He did not let up, stole the purse and ran through the Parkville School property, police said.

The woman suffered severe facial injuries and was treated, police said.

Police obtained a warrant for Emilio Camacho, 20, of Hartford and arrested him at his house on Tuesday around 3 p.m. They tracked him down through his monitoring bracelet, the Hartford Courant reports, and the victim identified him through a photo.  

Camacho was charged with second-degree assault on a Victim over 60, first-degree robbery and second-degree larceny.
