Cops Say Alleged Prostitute Made $600K

An anonymous tip left with management at a Meriden condo complex unraveled an alleged 15-year prostitution business and led police to a stash of more than half a million dollars, according to news reports.

Kim Wroblewski, 54, a petite woman with long blond hair, lived in one Meriden apartment and rented an apartment at the Brittania Commons condos for $1,000 a month, where she is accused of running a prostitution business, police told the Meriden Record-Journal.

She took clients between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m., police told the newspaper, and told residents that she worked nights as a nurse.

Sgt. Leonard Caponigro said people in the area were reporting people coming and going, especially males, who would stay an hour and leave.

"We haven't seen a case quite like this in a while," Detective John Williams told the Record-Journal. "It's extremely complex and she kept very meticulous records. We are still conducting interviews and will file a supplemental report in a few weeks."

As police investigated, they found $31,000 in cash and ledgers of business transaction, and they seized $650,000 from bank accounts related to the business, police told the newspaper.

Wroblewski was charged with prostitution, second-degree promoting prostitution, possession of narcotics and possession of narcotics within 1,500 feet of a school.

Officials from the condo complex told the Record-Journal they asked police to investigate when they heard the allegations.
