Town officials have identified the15-year-old Ridgefield High School struck by a car and killed Friday night as Emma Sandhu.
Police said the teen was struck in the area of 570 Ridgebury Road around 9:30 p.m. She was transported to Danbury Hospital, where she later died.
Friends of Sandhu said the teen was a sophomore and avid dancer and attended the Ridgefield Conservatory of Dance.
Police said the driver stayed at the scene and was interviewed by investigators.
Ridgebury Road was closed between Benson Road and Chestnut Hill Road while police and fire officials responded to the scene.
The high school posted an alert on its website canceling a play performance following the accident.
