One man is dead and a woman has been arrested following a stabbing in Hamden on Saturday afternoon.
Police say they were called to an apartment at 233 Goodrich St. just after 3 p.m. and found a man suffering from a stab wound on the first floor. He later died from his injures at Yale-New Haven Hospital. Police identified the victim as Lavern Brown, 44.
The female suspect fled the scene, but officers quickly caught up with her and arrested her. She has been identified as Rita Renee Johnson, 51.
She has been charged with murder and is being held at the Hamden Police Department on a $500,000 bond.
Police said the matter remains under investigation, but evidence suggests the murder began as an argument between the pair.
Johnson was expected to appear before a judge on Monday for an arraignment but it is not happening on Monday.
