Store Manager Killed in New Haven Shooting: Police

The manager of a New Haven market was killed in a shooting this morning, according to New Haven police.

Police identified the victim as Abdul L. Rawas, 55, and said he was shot in the back and arm during what was likely a robbery.

An ambulance took him to Yale-New Haven Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police originally said Rawas was apparently the owner of Orchard Market, which is located at 738 Orchard St., but the owner of the store identified Rawas as the manager.

Police have not identified a suspect but released surveillance photos of the man they say shot Rawas.  The man in the photos was wearing a mask and what appeared to be a gray hoodie.
