Police Investigating 2 Shootings on New Year's Day in Hartford

Hours into the first day of 2018, Hartford police are investigating two shootings.

The first was reported at 12:06 a.m. at Winchester and Auburn streets and officers found three shell casings and two bullet fragments.

The victim, a male, was shot in the back and taken to St. Francis Hospital. His injuries are not life-threatening.

Police said the victim was previously shot several times and has been involved in several shootings, either as a suspect or a victim.

The second shooting was just after 6 a.m. on Edgewood Street.

The victim, a male, was shot in the face and the bullet when in and out of the cheek, police said. He is recovering at St. Francis Hospital.

Authorities have not identified any suspects in either shooting.
