Jogger Finds Skull in East Lyme, Detectives Find More Remains

A jogger found part of a human skull near a new development off Sleepy Hollow Road in East Lyme on Monday morning and state police have taken over the investigation.

The jogger contacted police at 6:51 a.m. to report a suspicious item found in the area of Sleepy Hollow Road and Van Winkle Way, so East Lyme Police and state troopers responded to investigate.

As police searched the woods, detectives found more skeletal remains.

Those have been sent to the office of the chief medical examiner to determine the cause of death and to try and identify the remains through dental records.
