Police Investigate After Finding 2-Year-Old With Burns to Half His Body

A 2-year-old New London boy who suffered burns to nearly half his body is in critical condition and police are trying to determine whether the injuries were an accident or a crime.

An ambulance responded to a Bristol Street home around 11:14 a.m. on Sunday after receiving a report of that a 2-year-old boy was having trouble breathing and found a toddler suffering from first- and second- degree burns.

They transported him to Lawrence and Memorial Hospital, then LifeStar airlifted him to Shriners Hospitals for Children in Boston, which provides burn care for children, as well as other treatments.
New London police are investigating and have interviewed the parents, as well as several other people, and searched the home.

The state's attorney's office and Department of Children and Families were also contacted.
No charges have been filed and New London police ask anyone with information to contact them.
