Death at Stanley Quarter Park in New Britain Ruled Homicide

The death of a man whose body was found at Stanley Quarter Park in New Britain Tuesday has been ruled a homicide, police said Wednesday.

Police officers, firefighters and EMS crews responded to the park around 7:45 a.m. on Tuesday after someone found the man down near the skate park.

The victim, identified as Donzie Taylor, 41, of Middletown, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said the medical examiner has ruled the cause of death a gunshot wound to the chest.

New Britain police said they have no prior history with Taylor and they have not found a connection bewteen Taylor and the area he was located.

"We don't believe he was there for a prolonged time," Captain Thomas Steck, of New Britain Police, said Tuesday.

The park is open and police reinforce that the park is safe.

"It's a safe park. We don't have any problems here," Steck said. "Certainly, this is out of the norm for us, specifically in our park systems."
