The woman who barricaded herself in a home on Keeney Street in Manchester this morning has been taken away in an ambulance and the massive police presence that locked down the area is beginning to disperse.
Authorities surrounded a home on Keeney Street in Manchester just before 11 a.m. Sunday, where they say a distraught 44-year-old woman barricaded herself and threatened to use force.
Police initially responded when the woman's parents called to request a welfare check. The woman was outside in the backyard when police first arrived, and authorites said she appeared to be injured.
The woman, described as emotionally disturbed, then barricaded herself inside the home. She told responding officers she had weapons and would use them if police confronted her, police said.
Keeney Street was shut down between Frances Drive and Hackmatack Street. The intersection of Bidwell Street and Peila Drive was also closed, and neighboring homes on Keeney Street were evacuated.
It's not clear if the woman was alone inside the house, but police said they believe she was the only occupant.
An ambulance and stretcher arrived on scene just after 2 p.m. The woman was taken by ambulance around 2:15.

The Manchester Police Command Unit arrived on scene Sunday morning. SWAT, fire officials, Glastonbury police, Enfield police and K-9 officers provided mutual aid.
