Police Bust Suspected Meth Lab in Manchester

Police said they found a meth lab when they raided a home in Manchester on Thursday and have arrested a resident.

After a lengthy investigation into the illegal manufacturing of methamphetamines, authorities searched 33 Canterbury St. on Thursday and said Wayne Newbury Jr. 41, is accused of cooking meth.  

The DEA clandestine lab enforcement team and the Connecticut DEEP Emergency Response Unit assisted in the search.

Police said they seized precursor chemicals for the manufacture of methamphetamines, a small quantity of methamphetamine, n handgun with a suppressor and several drug paraphernalia items.

Newbury has been charged with operating a drug factory and manufacturing of a restricted substance.

He was held on a $150,000 surety bond.

Police said they served a separate arrest warrant for Newbury and the East Central Narcotics Taskforce will be applying for an additional arrest warrant.
