A search for a missing swimmer at Squantz Pond in New Fairfield turned up nothing Thursday afternoon.
Four witnesses told police they saw a female swimming in the area and then she may have gone under the water.
State Police, New Fairfield Police and Conservation Officers from the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection all assisted in the search.
After two hours, searchers found no one in the water and said everyone at the pond was accounted for. Authorities believe it was a false alarm.
