Romney Leads GOP Slate in CT: Poll

Connecticut voters give their opinion on the GOP candidates.

Republican Presidential candidate Mitt Romney is leading the GOP slate with the most delegates, and he's also leading in  a recent Quinnipiac University poll.

As we approach the Republican presidential primary in Connecticut, 42 percent of voters chose the former Massachusetts governor, followed by Rick Santorum with 19 percent, Newt Gingrich with 13 percent and Texas U.S. Rep. Ron Paul with 9 percent.

"Gov. Mitt Romney is crushing Santorum in Connecticut, leading by 23 points. Romney's strength continues to be among upscale voters and seniors," Douglas Schwartz, Quinnipiac University Poll Director, said.
Should Romney win the primary, the Quinnipiac poll has President Barack Obama beating him, 53 percent to 37 percent.
President Obama leads 91 percent to 6 percent among Democratic voters and 48 percent to 37 percent with Independent voters, whereas Romney leads 85 percent to 12 percent of the Republicans.
The poll shows President Obama defeating Santorum by 55 percent to 35 percent.
Connecticut voters who participated in the poll are in favor of the job the President is doing, 53 percent to 43 percent.
Furthermore, they have a favorable opinion of him, 55 prcent to 41 percent.
On the Republican side, Romney favorability rating is a negative 35 percent to 43 percent and  Santorum’s favorability ranking is a negative 27 percent to 43 percent among Connecticut voters.
