Oversleeping Delays Opening of New Britain Polling Place

A polling place in New Britain opened 45 minutes late on Tuesday morning when a janitor overslept, according to a poll moderator.

Polls were supposed to open at 6 a.m. so registered Democrats can cast ballots for the Board of Education, but the doors at Chamberlain Elementary School did not open until 6:45 a.m., the moderator said.

Two people were affected by the delayed opening, according to officials.
