A power outage affected parts of the UConn campus in Storrs on Thursday evening.
The outage impacted buildings, which were mostly dorms in the central and western parts of the campus, a UConn representative told NBC Connecticut.
The representative said there was no one in the dorms because the spring semester has not started yet.
The school is building a new utility tunnel and a manhole in the construction area exploded. Two big circuits were knocked out as a result.
No injuries or damages to any buildings were been reported.
The power was restored a short time later.
