Price Chopper to Change Name

The Price Chopper supermarket chain plans to change the name of its 135 stores in six states to Market 32 in a $300 million rebranding move.

The company says it’s an attempt to modernize stores with new services and products. Rebranding will begin in the spring and is expected to take several years to complete.

"This is not merely about beautifying our Price Chopper stores. It is a complete refocus of our company on the core values that our customers are looking for in a store," Price Chopper President and CEO Jerry Golub said in a statement Tuesday. "We will be re-engineering nearly every facet of the store, beginning with the name but extending into our marketing, product selection, services offered and customer focus."

New York-based Price Chopper also has nine stores in Connecticut and others in Vermont, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, New York and Massachusetts.
