Rell, Congressional Delegation Discuss Stimulus Plan

There is absolutely no room for partisanship, that was the word from Gov. M. Jodi Rell and six members of Connecticut's Congressional delegation after meeting to discuss President-elect Barack Obama's stimulus plan and how it might affect this state.

Rell said the discussions focused on one thing -what's best for Connecticut.

U.S. Senators Christopher Dodd and Joseph Lieberman said Congress must get to work right after the first of the year and put a plan on Obama's desk after he takes office on Jan. 20. They said that everything must be done to put people back to work and restore confidence, not only in Connecticut, but also across the nation.

Four of the state's members of the U.S. House were at the meeting - John Larson of the First District, Joseph Courtney from the Second, newcomer Jim Himes from the Fourth, and Christopher Murphy from the Fifth.  All agreed it's not only about stimulus, but about long-term economic recovery and growth for the future.
