A dive team responded to a reported of a drowning at Burr Pond in Torrington but came up with nothing, Goshen Fire Department confirms.

DEEP Environmental Conservation Police said they could not confirm that anyone had drowned or is missing but they are on the scene. The dive team came as a precaution.

Officials believe the report was a swatting incident.

"With the previous notoriety incidents that have happened over the last week or two," Sgt. Tate Begley of the Connecticut State EnCon Police said. "Someone saw this as a pretty good opp to call in a swatting incident and see a pretty heavy response."

Begley said everyone at the park was accounted for when they investigated.

Over the weekend, a 6-year-old girl was transpoted to the hospital after being pulled from the water at Burr Pond. The girl was later released from the hospital.

On June 26, a 4-year-old boy died after drowning in the same pond. The boy had been swimming in a roped off area with other children and adults when lifeguards noticed he needed help. The boy was pulled from the water and later pronounced dead at the hospital, police said.
