Republican Official Sees ‘No Appetite' to Force Out Chairman

A Connecticut Republican Party official said the party will not likely force out the chairman after the GOP's second consecutive defeat for governor.

Edward Dadakis, a member of the Republican State Central Committee, told Hearst Connecticut Media there seems to be "no appetite" to force out Chairman Jerry Labriola Jr.

The 72-member group has scheduled its first meeting since the election on Dec. 10 in Manchester.

A two-thirds vote of the committee is required to take the rare step of ousting Labriola six months before his term has expired. Such a recall vote would require written notice to committee members.

Republican Tom Foley lost to Democratic Gov. Dannel Malloy though the incumbent was initially seen as vulnerable because of tax increases he and the Democratic-led legislature enacted in 2011.
