The owner of a Hamden restaurant has been arrested after allegedly using a camera to record video of women in the restroom.

Police say Varanchit Pruchyanmit put the camera in the women's bathroom of the Terrace Restaurant at 1559 Dixwell Avenue. The camera was placed under the sink, facing the toilet, police said.

A woman using the restroom at the Thai restaurant found the camera on Wednesday and called police. Officers say they found the camera in Pruchyanmit's car.

After an additional investigation, police say they determined Pruchyanmit is in the country illegally, and that he also used several identities. He has been charged with voyeurism, tampering with evidence, breach of peace, criminal impersonation, interfering with police and forgery.

Pruchyanmit is being held on $100,000 bond and a detainer from the Department of Homeland Security. He will be in court March 30.
