Robber to Clerk: “I Hate to Do This”

The robber apologized before showing a gun and robbing Bedding Barn in Orange.

Police are searching for the man who robbed the Bedding Barn in Orange on Tuesday night and apologized to the clerk before showing a gun, according to police.

Just before closing time, a well-dressed man entered the Bedding Barn at 131 Boston Post Road and began to browse around.

Then, he approached the clerk and said, “I hate to do this to you but I’m going to. ... This is a hold up,” police said.

The robber opened a brown leather bag, showed the clerk a black pistol and placed it back in the bag, according to police.

The clerk gave the man a small amount of cash and his personal laptop and the robber left the store.

Police responded around 9 p.m. A K-9 unit was brought in and the track led to the parking area behind the Sprint Store at 125 Boston Post Rd.

Police are looking for a thin, clean shaven 6-foot-tall man between 50 and 60 years old.
